Michael Wardlaw, PGA Professional

Michael is a Class A PGA Professional who has over two decades of experience teaching golfers at all levels including; beginners, high school, collegiate, and professional golfers. Michael uses a blend of modern technology and traditional teaching methods to help students better understand their unique golf swing. This approach helps keep the swing simple, thus making golf more enjoyable.

A little more about Michael

Michael is a southern at heart, born and raised in Mississippi where he developed a passion for golf. He received his BA Degree in Marketing from Mississippi State University while going through the Professional Golf Management program. During his golf career, Michael has worked as an intern at West Lake County Club in Augusta GA , Elk River Club in Banner Elk NC, Musgrove Mill Club in Clinton SC. As a professional he served as an Assistant Professional and Tournament Director at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, MS and as Head Professional of Dogwood Golf Club in Starkville, MS.

After taking a few years away from daily instruction on the lesson tee, Michael met his now wife, Dr. Jennifer Wardlaw with whom he has two tremendous children, Lillian and Trey.

And in 2023 he returned to his passion of teaching golf by working with St. Louis Golf Lessons and starting Fairway Sports.

On the lesson tee you might also learn the Michael is an avid outdoorsman, amateur guitar player (just likes to beat on the guitar and make noise), and a craftsman who builds furniture as the owner of The Resolute Craftsman.

Teaching Philosophy

Golf is a game to be enjoy by all ages and all skill levels. I strive to keep the game simple. As people we tend to over complicate things... and the golf swing is no different. I work diligently to help students better understand their golf swing without being technical, reducing the amount of things going on in their head while playing... thus making the game more enjoyable and improving scores along the way.

With that said... if you like to get into the nuts and bolts of what makes your swing tick... well we can do that too.

Each student has their own swing and their own way of approaching the game. My job is to meet them where they are and provide a roadmap to help them reach their goals in golf.
